I'm Patrick McClanahan, an Assistant Professor of Criminology and Criminal Justice at the University of Alabama. My research delves into the environmental and situational factors that shape perceptions in three domains: criminal decision-making, public safety, and victimization I strive to understand why someone chooses to commit a crime in one context and not another or why someone feels safe in one place but not another. By exploring these unique perspectives and utilizing innovative methods like virtual reality, my goal is to contribute to more effective crime prevention strategies and public safety initiatives.
